Profile of Dr. Kamira M. Sánchez N.

Kamira Sánchez is Ph.D. in economics with broad experience in financial administration and in the implementation of integrated financial systems in the public sector. She is member of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) of the International Federation of Accountants for the period 2020-2023.

Since 2018 she is Manager in the Financial Accounting Advisory Services department at Ernst & Young in Germany, where she leads IPSAS implementation projects in Latin America and Europe.

Before those functions, she held the position of Head of the Accounting Standards and Continuous Improvements Department at the Directorate of National Accounting of the Ministry of Economics and Finances of the Republic of Panama where she participated actively in the ISTMO project to modernize the financial administration of the public sector through a new integrated system for government resources planning.

In 2015 Kamira Sánchez obtained her Ph.D. degree in the Graduate Academy “The Economics of Innovative Change” at the Friedrich-Schiller Universität Jena, Germany. Her Ph.D. thesis “Managing pre-implementation acceptance in the adoption of new enterprise systems: The case of a new financial administration system for public institutions in the Republic of Panama” was awarded with the grade Magna Cum Laude.

In 2010 she obtained her Master degree in Finances at the Universidad del Valle de México, Mexico city with the award of excellence the “Golden Lynx” for academic outstanding performance. In 2008 she obtained her Bachelor Degree in Bilingual Tourism Business Administration at the University of Panama with Sigma Lambda honors.
